Related Items in Cart

Presenting related items in the cart is a great way for brands to upsell their customers with related items and / or accessories. After a lot of research, the Direct Commerce Platform put significant focus on presenting those related items in a way that ensures that customers know "what is related to what". To explain this more, when a customer adds multiple items to the cart, each 'parent' item will present its own group of related items as long as the brand has assigned related items to the parent item.

FAQ

Does the brand manage / assign the related items?

Yes. The brand's development team would insert the code in the backend of their site and depending on how it was set up, the brand's product or marketing team would then assign related items to each parent item.

Should I notify my DCP Client Success Manager to "turn this feature on" before I start implementation?

Yes. We have a config set defaulted to keeping this feature 'off' in the cart. We can have this turned on pretty quickly though.

How many related items can we assign to a product?

As many as you want, but we’d recommend between 3 and 6.
